***One of the reviews my book Ecstatic Life.*** Beginning to end Shane presents and celebrates an effortlessness of enjoying Family (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). Living and moving and breathing in joy and bliss. He talks about how anyone can experience this ecstasy too. The book is lively, chatty, written in vernacular but also you can see his academic mind too. He is a wonderful teacher and draws richly from scriptures, church fathers, Martin Luther, and Robert Capon. Shane walks us through early Genesis in light of seeing scriptures through the lens of Jesus and his activity and love during those formative times in our history. Shane completely delivers with some really creative exposition and use of some of the original Hebrew. Look for for some wonderful truths regarding trinitarian theology, created in Our image, Cain and Abel, and belief in the original lie. However the book is so much more. Lets hear from Shane himself….. “This book is the product of my years enjoying the Lord and devouring the Holy Scriptures and what I’ve found in them. I believe what I’ve found in Jesus, and in the beautifully inspired Scriptures , is a never-ending wellspring of divine happiness and joy. A geyser of ecstasy!” “One time I was sitting outside of my work staring at the concrete. I then heard the Lord ask me a very simple question. He asked me, “What do you see?” I responded and said, “Well, I see cracks and grass breaking through the cracks.” I didn’t hear much after, so I waited on Him. After a minute or two, I heard Him say, “Do you see brokenness or do you see me?” I responded and said to Him, “Well, I want to see you”. “if you’re going to be a true hedonist (which is your original design) then you have to meet Jesus one day because He is the source of all eternal pleasures (Delight, great pleasure, joyfulness, jubilation, triumph, exultation , rejoicing, happiness, gladness, glee, exhilaration, exuberance , elation, euphoria, bliss, ecstasy, rapture; enjoyment, felicity, pleasure, source of pleasure, delight, treat, thrill! )” I took the liberty of combing a couple separate sentences. “The Hebrew word for “image” in that verse is the word “tselem.” I absolutely love this word because it doesn’t just translate to image but also to the word “shadow.” What’s interesting about a shadow is that a shadow is dependent upon a light and a substance to cast it. We were originally designed as individuals, but individuals dependent upon Him! He was and is meant to be our source of life and happiness.” “We were designed from the overflow of a loving Family. God didn’t make you for something in the sense that He was lacking, He made you from Himself lacking nothing! God doesn’t need us; we were and are the desires of His heart.” “God is our family” “We might have been trapped in Adam, but even Adam was created IN Christ!” “Why am I talking about viruses? Well, a virus is a lot like a lie. Like a virus, a lie is also dependent upon a host/ person to believe it for it to reproduce. A lie contains no true substance within itself.” “Live from your desires and feast upon the Lamb that was slain! If you desire to design a new toaster oven, do so! I love a good slice of toast for breakfast! You are a New Creation with an amazing imagination that’s God given for you to use to advance the Kingdom of God and Humanity as a whole. See the Glory in all things. Humanity and the rest of God’s beautiful creation is meant to be enjoyed! So, enjoy! Look at all things with a childlike wonder and desire to see the Kingdom of Heaven displayed wherever you step! Live in the expectation of joy! Live, knowing that you’ve been united to Joy Himself, by Joy Himself.” Ive read the book twice since it was released last month in Kindle form. Rumor has it that he is going to release a revised edition and even come out with another book. I encourage you to read the Ecstatic Life. It really is a happy thesis. Be careful though…you will smile.
