One thing I will be thinking about for the next election is HOW I - TopicsExpress

One thing I will be thinking about for the next election is HOW I place my vote. I now personally think that the postal voting method is flawed. I was watching when Ruth Davidson came out with this on the night and I did wonder about the legality of it, so Ive checked online and it only bolsters my view that what happened was in fact illegal. This quote is taken directly from the Electoral Commissions own documentation on Postal Voting - from Section 4. (link provided below for anyone wanting the full document) Duty to maintain secrecy Anyone attending an opening session must not attempt to look at identifying marks or numbers on ballot papers, disclose how any particular ballot paper has been marked or pass on any such information gained from the session. Anyone found guilty of breaching these requirements can face a fine of up to £5,000, or may be imprisoned for up to six months electoralcommission.org.uk/__data/assets/electoral_commission_pdf_file/0010/108937/NAW-Postal-voting.pdf So, how can Ruth Davidson possibly have known in the lead up to the election how the outcome was looking, as she said herself, weve been incredibly encouraged by the results from that. Results? What results? Nobody should have been taking any notes of results or counting any votes at this stage of the campaign. The postal votes are only to be counted after 10pm on the night of the election. Personally I find this more disturbing than the grainy footage of unverifiable claims of what may or may not be vote rigging. This was a blatant admission of an illegal practice being spoken of on live TV in the midst of the actual process. If this cant be looked into as an example of wrongdoing then nothing ever will be. So I think Ill be trundling down to the polling station in person from now on.
