One thing is confirmed. The Banking Ombudsman does not. So, if you have a difficulty in Banking Services, they should be approached. I believe that it is essential to give these bodies a chance to make things better. The cheque I dropped at Citibank Drop Box could not be traced for 1 month. I complained to the Banking Ombudsman. They took up the case immediately. They allocated a Complaint Reference. They traced the cheque. They even sent me a scanned copy of the cheque. At Axis Bank, I now find that the Drop Box has a system for giving an acknowledgment when one drops a cheque at the Drop Box.
