One thought for today: I wish that band directors of bands which did not advance yesterday will think carefully about the long-term effect of the comments they make to their students. I hope gratitude is the number one thought presented. As in, Thank you! Thank you for your time and your efforts and for doing youre very best...for representing your school and community with dignity and class...etc. I hope no time whatsoever will be spent bashing other bands, the rankings, the status of the communities, the judges, the system and on and on. Because what we want to do is INSPIRE students to continue to do their best always now and in life, and not cause them to become cynical, or bitter, or to doubt the value and importance of competition. Every student on every field yesterday deserves to know how much we love and appreciate them, and thats really all that needs to be said.
