One week ago today my husband was fighting for his life because of Bees. He was mowing the yard and run over a nest of bees (yellow jackets) that we didn’t know were there. He rode the lawnmower to the house and came in to let me know he was stung a number of times by bees. He is very allergic to Bee stings. Thank God for epi pens, and myself working at SMH and knowing CPR. My husband went into Anaphylactic shock and Cardiac Arrest. I want to Thank the EMT’s from Rescue Station 6, Shift B for their heroic work on trying to save Dennis. It was a real challenge for them. When they took Dennis to the ambulance he was not breathing and no heart rate at all. Thanks to Dr. Holland and everyone in the ER at Sarasota Memorial Hosp. for finally bringing him around, inducing him into a coma and keeping him on life supports. Thanks to Linda and Beth for everything they did and the excellent care given to Dennis in ICU. And also the chilling catheter that saved Dennis’ brain. Thanks to the Nurses on 7Courtyard, Barb and Kia. Thanks to Dennis’ wonderful Doctors for saving his life, Dr. Lontfi, Dr. Pacifico and Hospialist Ryan Radakovich. Thanks to the support of my bosses, Annie Thornhill, Jana Putnal, David Patterson, and Mike Walker. Thanks to my co-workers who supported me through all of this and answering my questions, Robyn, NP Jen Sullivan and Catherine, Miguel Rodriguez, and the rest of my co-workers. Thanks for Nate from All Harris, who killed those nasty bees. Thanks to my stepson and his wife Don and Elena Jones for your support and being there for me. I apology to my neighbors for having problems getting to their homes, due to the ambulance, 2 fire trucks and 2 Sheriff vehicles that were blocking driveways and the street. Also, I do apology for Dennis’ family members whom I did not call and you had to hear this on FB, and to my family members on FB as well. But most of all I thank our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for saving my husband and to Dennis for not giving up on life. If there is anyone I have missed I am truly sorry. Dennis is doing very well; he has no brain damage at all. Right now he has laryngitis which is expected from the tube being down his throat. Dennis lost 4 days of his life, but he is truly a Miracle of God.
