Our Exhibits team, along with C&C Glass was hard at work today replacing the glass over our Bulk Stores Access Hatch. This exhibit is very popular, especially with our school tours! This hatch was used to lower large items such as aircraft engines, machine parts, and supply crates to the hold in the lower decks near the bottom of the ship. The glass panels allow our museum guests to look down four decks to the hold area. Those who are brave enough can even walk out onto the glass directly over the exhibit, approximately 35 feet below.
