Our Library Speaker Series begins next week with a man who snorkels with sharks and a BBC presenter who credits Limerick as being the inspiration for New York. Dr Peter Klimley, a shark behaviourist from California, will speak on Monday about the vilification of sharks in the media and how we need to understand them a bit better. While on Wednesday, the fascinating BBC presenter and historian Dan Cruickshank, will talk about the inspirations both for and of Georgian Ireland, including the argument that Limerick city was the architectural inspiration for 19th century New York City. The RDS has a 200 year tradition of sharing ideas, knowledge and thinking. The Library Speaker Series continues this, drawing on the areas of interest that the RDS continues to promote and celebrate. All talks are free, but places must be booked in advance. Find a full listing of our speaker series here: rds.ie/speakerseries
