Our Omniscient and Omnipresent God There are so many qualities about God and so many things He has done for us that are awe-inspiring. In Psalm 139, we see David’s praises for God’s awesome characteristics. When we think of God’s omniscience, we often associate it with His knowledge of the big, eternal picture. Yet He also knows the very deepest corners of our hearts. Our Creator knows us inside and out—better than we know ourselves. He knows our hidden motivations. He knows what we’re going to say even before we say it. This is exactly what David praised God for in Psalm 139: “O Lord, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord” (Psalm 139:1-4). When we think of how vast and how intricate and how intelligent God’s knowledge is, we should be overwhelmed. David also praised God for His omnipresence: “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? . . . If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast” (Psalm 139:7, 9-10). We cannot go any place where God is not already present—physically or spiritually. Even during our darkest days, we know that God is right there in the midst of our situation with us. Prayer: God, thank You for knowing all big things and every little thing! Thank You for being everywhere all the time! Amen. “Your righteousness reaches to the skies, O God, you who have done great things. Who, O God, is like you?” (Psalm 71:19). Amen...
