Our Permanent Housing program - Victory Village - is receiving the coveted SHIP Partnership of the Year Award! St. Cloud, FL - CEO Thomas Griffin of The Transition House Inc., the parent non-profit organization for Victory Village project, was notified this week that the organization and the Osceola County SHIP Local Housing Assistance Plan were selected to receive the coveted SHIP Partnership of the Year Award. The presentation of the award will be located at the annual conference on September 8, 2014, at the Hilton Orlando Convention Center. In addition to Osceola County government and The Transition House, other agencies included in the recognition include Habitat for Humanity, the Osceola County Neighborhood Stabilization Program and The Hope Center. The SHIP Local Housing Assistance Plan (LHAP) was created to meet the housing needs of the very low, low, and moderate income households, to expand production of and preserve affordable housing, to further the housing element of the Osceola County Government’s comprehensive plan specific to affordable housing. The program encourages building active partnerships between governments, lenders, builders, and developers, real estate professionals, advocates for low-income persons and community groups. “This is a very great honor for all the partners involved in the Victory Village project,” said Griffin. “Although there are still far too many individuals and families that need this kind of assistance, we are grateful that we have had the opportunity to assist with housing for the needy and we hope this prestigious award puts Osceola County and all the partners in a better position to continue providing these services through ongoing funding.”
