Our dear Sister Ruby Mitchell may be meeting The Lord tonight. And - TopicsExpress

Our dear Sister Ruby Mitchell may be meeting The Lord tonight. And what a joyous reunion it will be for her to see her family once again, her brothers, her parents and her sweet husband. Aunt Ruby holds a dear place in the hearts of everyone at Peniel Peniel Missionary Baptist Church. She was a mother to us all, even though she never had children of her own, and so much more. I personally have always had a strong affection for Aunt Ruby, even though she wasnt biologically my aunt. When I was lost and fighting going to an altar as a young boy, it was a soft spoken Aunt Ruby who came to me and asked if I needed to pray. And that night I gave my heart to The Lord. Over the years, her faithfulness to the church has been second to none. From her deep participation in church activities and special events, to her unwavering volunteerism with our youth, she was an enormous presence in our church. And no one was more readily available to participate in our churchs annual Christmas plays than Aunt Ruby. She never refused a part - from a small town bus mechanic to a bag lady who clobbered me with a grocery bag repeatedly to an adolescent little girl - pigtailed wig and all! I failed to mention she was in her late 70s for these roles! Those sweet memories will be ones I will wrap myself in and be comforted by when she leaves this old world. She was and will continue to be a huge inspiration to me and the entire church. She was a role model, an active and present member in our church body - we could all take lessons from our dear Aunt Ruby when it comes to dedication to the church and loving The Lord! My heart is heavy and saddened as I write this update but it is rejoicing for her soul as it makes its final journey, whenever that time comes. My love is never ending, Aunt Ruby. Your church will always remember and love you. And so will I especially. - Chris Hayes
