Our enjoyment Scripture 1 Tim 6-17 Command those who are rich - TopicsExpress

Our enjoyment Scripture 1 Tim 6-17 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Observation Everything we have has been given to us by God, our bodies, possessions, air for breathing, hopes and dreams for the future. These blessings are uncountable and profuse, they are gifts for us to enjoy but more importantly to bless others with. To hoard these things does not bring deep enjoyment, it is when we use them to do good works, give to others and store up an eternal foundation that we really gain the enjoyment that Paul describes here. There are two ways that riches can lead us and in the first world countries that some of us live in, we must confess that we are rich. The first response is that of putting our hope and trust in the accumulation of things, but these are only with us for as long as we live and there is no certainty in them. To trust in riches is a sign of arrogance and self sufficiency. The second way that riches can be viewed is to see them as a blessing from God to be passed on. When we recognise that everything we have has come from God, it is much easier to give back and pass on what He prompts us to do. May we enjoy the blessings that He gives but like a life giving stream, pass on those blessings to others.
