Our grouse with Amosun —Senator Kaka by: Olayinka Olukoya - Abeokuta 05.Sep.2014 || Tribune Newspaper A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Senator Sefiu Adegbenga Kaka, on Thursday, said members of the party loyal to the former governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba, were unhappy with the state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, because of his style of politics. Kaka, who is the senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, said this during his courtesy visit to the Tribune House, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, noted that Amosun had hijacked the party structure. He explained that the conduct of the last primaries from the ward, local and state levels, held in the state were marred with irregularities, contending that the conduct of a fresh election would address some of the issues the Osoba group had against the governor. Kaka, a former deputy governor of the state, added that the group demanded justice from Amosun in the scheme of things in the state, saying without justice, there could be no peace. “There must be justice in whatever we are doing. We must ensure justice in our relationship with others, justice in the distribution of political offices, justice in political structure, justice in structuring of political system, among many others. I say emphatically that once all the issues raised were addressed, there can be no peace,” he added. On an appeal made by Amosun, asking people to help him beg Osoba on the crisis rocking the party, Kaka described the statement as hypocritical and cheap blackmail. “Our governor is trying to blackmail our leader. The governor, in an attempt to play holier than thou attitude, is asking people to help him beg Chief Osoba. How can we be a member of the same family and somebody offended another member of the family and the best he can do is to go outside and be asking people to help him beg somebody is nothing, I say nothing by an act of hypocrisy. It is insulting. “Amosun, before getting the party’s ticket in 2011, made Chief Osoba’s house his second home, but that is no longer the case. The house of our leaders were defaced by some hoodlums, the governor had not deemed it fit to call Osoba on this development. They wrote unprintable words on his walls. This speaks volume. “This is the same governor, who insulted Chief Osoba and the former interim national officer, Chief Yemi Sanusi, during a national meeting, held in Abuja. This is a man that has offended so many people and singled out Chief Osoba is not being fair to the person of Osoba. “All that is happening in the state chapter of the APC is a case of a tenant trying to drive out the landlord. He said that all National Assembly members have no electoral value. It was the same governor, who sponsored someone against Chief Osoba’s son in the 2011 elections. “The same governor is the one backing the only person that contested the election with me, Mr Bisi Adegbuyi to the Supreme Court and that same person enjoying an appointment in his administration. We are fighting for justice and we want peace and not graveyard peace,” the senator said. Senator Kaka commended the management team of the African Newspapers of Nigeria (ANN) Plc for upholding the legacy of the sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, in fighting for the cause of the common man. He noted that the Tribune titles had been objective, balanced and fair in his reports and urged them not to derail in ensuring that the newspapers continue to soar higher. Responding, the Managing Director/Editor-In-Chief of ANN Plc, publisher of Tribune titles, Mr Edward Dickson, said that the company cannot afford to do anything otherwise. “We, in the Tribune newspapers, will not do anything that we will not be able to defend. We will not be partisan and we will not fight anybody’s war. Also in attendance were Editors, Nigerian Tribune and Saturday Tribune, Mr Debo Abdulai and Mr Lasisi Olagunju. via: tribune.ng/news/top-stories/item/15223-our-grouse-with-amosun-senator-kaka
