#Our leaders mislead us - APC lawmakers ...As Omirin dispels rumour of assassination attempt# Embattled All Progressives Congress (APC) members in the Ekiti State House of Assembly are now lamenting that they were mislead by their party leaders. The former Speaker, Dr Adewale Omirin was at the Ekiti State Police Headquarters, Ado-Ekiti today, where he signed an undertaken to let peace reign in the House of Assembly. Omirin also dispelled rumour of an assassination attempt on him which had earlier been circulated on the social media. In a chat with reporters shortly after he emerged from the Police Commissioner’s Office today, Omirin described the rumour of assassination attempt as “baseless and unfounded.” “Some people said they saw some strange faces around my house on Monday and I think that accounted for the rumour. But I want to say there was nothing like that,” Omirin said. He explained that he had commenced discussion with key stakeholders like traditional rulers, security agencies and illustrious citizens of the state on the need for the two feuding factions to reconcile and work together as one legislative body. He stressed that the APC lawmakers are ready to work with Governor Fayose. “I am a man of peace. I am assuring Governor Ayodele Fayose of my cooperation and that there was nothing like impeachment plan against him. As far as I am concerned, we are not in Ekiti to foment trouble. The state Commissioner of Police, Taiwo Lakanu said the command was interested in ensuring that peace reigns in the state disclosing that he received a call from Omirin at about 11.00 pm on Monday shortly after arriving Ado-Ekiti. Lakanu revealed he had to despatch a team of policemen to the residence of the Speaker to give him protection ahead of the Tuesday morning’s parley. The CP explained that Omirin has assured him that the APC caucus would not be involved in anything that could disrupt the peace of the state until normalcy returns to the state legislature
