Our mid-week Music Box Memory comes from Lugee Alfredo Giovanni - TopicsExpress

Our mid-week Music Box Memory comes from Lugee Alfredo Giovanni Sacco ... we know him better as Lou Christie. Our featured song today was Lous tenth release and became his biggest hit. Lightnin Strikes was written by Lou and Twyla Herbert. The song was arranged, conducted and produced by Charles Calello and featured the backing vocals of Peggy Santiglia, (an original member of The Angels), Bernadette Carroll, (an original member of The Starlets, which became The Angels), and Denise Ferri. Session personnel consisted of Joe Farrell and George Young on baritone sax, Ray DiSio on trombone, Stan Free on piano, Lou Mauro on bass, Charlie Macy, Ralph Casale and Vinnie Bell on guitar, and Buddy Saltzman on drums. Casales stuttering guitar solo was originally an overdub. Lightnin Strikes was recorded September 3rd, 1965. The week of February 19th, 1966, it spent as the number one song in the country, on its way to becoming Certified Gold for sales of a million copies.
