Our status as unorganized and unincorporated has to do with the fact that were not officially a state of the union as a territory and there is no organic act in place. This is what makes us unique and where were given a unique citizenship status as US Nationals. What does need to be revisited however is the treaty between our islands and the U.S. because of the separation of the Tutuila and Manua islands and a lot of the language that seems to imply problematic control despite not having ever been annexed like other former territories. Our relationship with the United States was never one of a typical invasion or imperialistic colonization but an agreement between our forefathers and the leading superpower of the world.
