Our students have asked to make the football game at Eastlake this Friday a “red-white-and-blue-out” and have shirts made that feature the American flag. We support our student body and their desire to show patriotic pride. Before a decision is made, the MSHS administration and ASB leadership students will meet to discuss this topic fully. Students often attend football games in crazy clothes to show their school spirit and to match the theme (ex, white-out or red-out). We want to ensure our students would treat the American Flag respectfully and with appropriate flag etiquette as they create and dress in game spirit-wear. As a school, we need to ensure the flag is not inadvertently treated incorrectly. We embrace our students enthusiasm and view this topic as an excellent teaching moment of honoring our country and football team respectfully.
