Ours is a friendship that came to be from the most difficult of circumstances...the loss of loved ones. A common, unfortunate understanding which sparked conversation...brief chats online, that one day turned into a dinner date, which eventually transformed into late night talks curled up on her couch. Endless chatter filled with laughter, tears, and everything in-between, lasting into the wee hours of the morning. Theres a story behind every friendship, and in the few short years weve been friends, there is enough to write a book! Shes an incredible mother, and grandmother, who has experienced life in ways beyond anything I can comprehend. She is a true beauty on the outside, with a smile that can brighten any room, and a sense of style like none other. But what I love most, are the amazing qualities she holds so deeply within. Shes full of confidence, wisdom, and the most generous heart... a woman who knows what she wants, and doesnt fear going after it. Her opinion is spoken loudly, and honesty comes with ease. I feel welcome in her presence, for all that I am...the good, the bad, and the uncertain. When its my turn to talk, she listens. Not just with her ears, but with her whole heart. I value her wisdom and advice, which has always served me well, but even moreso, I appreciate all the ways she encourages me to find what makes me truly happy..and to go there. We share our pain, and know it is understood in ways no one should ever have to. Our sorrow, fears, and worries are safe in each others hands. But, we also celebrate the joys of life...most especially, our friendship. We are the equivalent of two giggly, young kids in one moment, with a silliness that knows no bounds! And in the next breath, theres maturity, grace, and the utmost dedication to our familial roles and lifes work. Whether we are hiking the Grand Canyon, snapping crazy selfies together along the way, or sitting at her kitchen table over dinner with the family...I feel at home, and I can be me. So, after a weekend FULL of adventure and laughter together here in Arizona, I was sad to have to say farewell and send Kim on her way home to Rhode Island today. I am thankful for all of the fun memories we made, the conversations shared, and lessons learned. It was a visit I wont soon forget! And, in two months time well be at it again, only this time to celebrate the Christmas holiday season in RI. Thank you, Kim, for touching my life in so many unbelievable ways, and for re-writing the definition of true friendship! I love you, and miss you so much already!!! XOXO
