Outreach Notice Southwestern Region (R3) C o r o n a d o N a t i o n a l F o re s t Santa Catalina Ranger District NATURAL RESOURCES SPECIALIST (Recreation) GS-101/401-11 Reply Due COB 09/19/2014 ABOUT THE POSITION The Santa Catalina Ranger District will soon be filling a GS 101/401-11 Natural Resources Specialist (Recreation) to serve as District Recreation Staff Officer and assist in the planning, programming, and execution of all land, trails, special uses, and minerals management program activities. This position has supervisory responsibilities and reports directly to the Deputy District Ranger and District Ranger. This position provides expertise and advice in the administration of the recreation program and projects. It will also plan, develop, and implement long-range and annual management plans for recreation, special uses, land uses, and minerals needs. This position provides input into the District and Forest Recreation budget. It is expected that this position will seek and establish mutual working relationships with Forest Service and other entities, such as other Federal agencies, State and local agencies, Tribal agencies, and community and volunteer partners. Coordination and collaboration are important keys to success for this position. This position provides and prepares oral and written communication for Forest Service line managers to approve and sign. Finally, strategic planning and implementation skills are needed to ensure success of natural resource management activities on the District and Forest.
