Over the Christmas period I have increasingly noticed my tendency to unquestionably sing along to Christmas songs, unashamedly belting out sentiments which I do not mean at all. For example; well I wish it could be Christmas everyday. Seriously?! Like most people, I really, really do not wish it was Christmas everyday. (If you wish to know why; refer to previous stati. Alternatively, I could introduce you to some of my family members.) I have noticed something similar in my Christian life- in church belting out songs which have very little relation to how I actually feel. For example Lord my one request and my only aim, is that you reign in me again. This isnt false per se, but I do happen to have a few additional requests. That my life would be awesome (well nice) and nothing bad ever happens to me or my family. Or anyone really. So Ive come up with a more realistic version of that song. Lord reign in me, give me an awesome life Give me all my dreams, no more trouble and strife You are the Lord of everydayyyy So wont you make everything ok? (Repeat last line three times to finish)
