Over the last year we have from time to time talked about different knives. Some very practical some not so much. Then there are ones like the US Marine Corp Kabar. It has all the stuff any big knife lover likes. Clipped tip, blood grove, leather washer handle and the big , thick, heavy blade. But is it really what you want to take to the woods. To be honest probably not. Dont get me wrong. I love the nostalgia of the big fighting knife. The shear history that surrounds this particular blade. The manly feeling you get when you carry it. And I know some folks will cry foul but the truth of the matter is, that for all the reasons stated above is exactly why its a crappy bush knife. Kabar has made some improvements with the partial serrated blade, which I dont like. And the new ones have a synthetic stock and matted finish. They also will hold a great edge. But again for all that, its just to klunkie. I had a tough time writing this review because I love this knife. But I in no way carry it to the woods with me. Its just one of those blades that I have acquired over time. And every so often I will get it down, oil, touch it up and feel the history of one of Americas great knives.
