Over the weekend you may have wondered why I was so silent on my Christianity. It dawns on me there was no Christian Church on that first Maundy Thursday, Good Friday or Easter Sunday. It came to pass in the days that followed as the risen Jesus taught the disciples, and then rose up into heaven. Just like many Christians today when this happened the apostles seemed to delay and just stare up into the sky waiting for his second coming. Acts 1:10 describes the event this way- 10 They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.” In the days that followed Pentecost arrived and the Holy Spirit rained down on them and they went out into the world to tell of the sacrifice, the resurrection and the preparation for the second coming. Pentecost is June 8th this year, it will signal the end of the Easter season. Between now and then it is a time of preparation. We as a people need to ready ourselves. Plan for the holy spirit to rain down on us and then go spread the word. Easter is over but the time to act is now. Christ has died, Christ has risen. Christ will come again.
