Overall Gigi is doing alright at school. The love and support - TopicsExpress

Overall Gigi is doing alright at school. The love and support that the staff and school have provided has been amazing. Unfortunately the reality of our new normal is rearing its ugly head. I have attached the letter from school below to explain. I also had 2 personal phone calls from them on how and what she is doing and how to handle it in the best way. Hi, Leah. It has been a great week in third grade. I have loved getting to know Gianna. I wanted to touch base with you on a couple of things. First of all, we had indoor recess today and students were given a chance to draw. She was with other teachers at that time because third grade teachers are eating lunch. She came into my classroom to put the picture in her desk and she said that she had drawn a grave and casket for you, so that if she dies you would remember her. I know Gigi has been through so much and I want to help her in any way. We do have a school social worker and counselor that could talk to her if you would like her to. If not, that is fine. Please give me any tips on what you would like me to say to help Gigi if this comes up again. Also, she has seemed a little tired. Mrs. Braun and I both told her that she could go to the health office and lay down if she felt like it. She did let me know today and she went to the health office for a bit. Would you like us to schedule in some breaks for her? Next week each day will be an hour longer, so please let me know what you would like. We can always play it by ear and Gigi can just let me know when she needs a break too, if that would be better. Again, I have really enjoyed having Gigi in class. Please let me know of anything I can do. She is one sweet girl! Have a great weekend! Brandi Brandi Jantzen Kloefkorn Elementary 3rd Grade Team Leader (402)436-1148
