Overview The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) works in partnership with country governments, partners, and other major stakeholders to identify the key obstacles to access and scale-up of essential health services, and to develop sustainable strategies to overcome them. CHAI’s solution-oriented approach focuses on improving market dynamics for medicines and diagnostics; lowering prices for treatment; accelerating access to life-saving vaccines and technologies; and helping governments build the capacity required for high-quality care and treatment programs. In 2010, CHAI launched a new vaccines program to apply the techniques it has used successfully to improve access to HIV/AIDS and malaria treatment in developing countries to essential vaccines, one of the most cost-effective public health interventions. The CHAI Vaccines Program’s aim is to increase access to immunization services. CHAI aims to achieve this goal through three focus areas: Accelerate the introduction and sustain high coverage of new vaccines: CHAI is increasing the speed and efficiency at which new vaccines reach target coverage with a current focus on pneumococcal and rotavirus vaccines. Transform in-country delivery systems to efficiently deliver both current and future vaccines in the pipeline according to the ‘six rights’: the right product in the right quantities and the right condition to the right place at the right time for the right cost. Achieve affordable yet sustainable vaccine prices by shaping vaccine markets and negotiating price reductions for major antigens. CHAI’s vaccine program supports very closely the national immunization program in focus countries, namely Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, Mozambique, and Uganda, and engages with global donors, policy-makers and thought leaders. We are seeking a motivated individual with superior problem-solving and analytical skills, who is resourceful, strong at analyses and a clear communicator. The candidate should be particularly strong in applied analytics and evidence-base decision-making approaches, developing impact-oriented recommendations, able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment, and function independently. Contribute to the planning and execution of high-impact strategies and projects to dramatically improve the effectiveness and efficiency of immunization programs in CHAI focal countries. Design and support implementation of result-oriented operational research and impact evaluation projects, including study protocol development, questionnaire design, data collection and analysis, project management Carry out research, analyses and quantitative models and translate their results into actionable and policy-relevant recommendations, including quantitative modeling, Support evaluation, documentation and dissemination of results and lessons learned from CHAI’s work in immunization Develop good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders as needed for the work Assist with vaccines program development and grant management Perform any other duties as assigned by the Vaccine Program Director.
