PAPAKURA NETBALL CENTRE REGIONAL PREMIER LEAGUE MEDIA RELEASE – 16th AUGUST 2013 The last matches of the Championship Round took place on Friday night, across the 3 venues Rosehill College, Netball Manurewa, Strathallan College. Division 1 Results: Unbeaten teams Howick United and Papatoetoe Rangers faced off at Strathallan College, in what will be a dress rehearsal for the Finals weekend next week. Howick dominated a second string Papatoetoe Rangers team, Rangers having 4 key players away this week. Howick won 52 - 42. Timbertown Shelly Park played Aztec 1, Aztec lucky to come away with a win in the end, after a lack of intensity crept into their game and Timbertown Shelly Park continued their ‘never say die’ attitude in the second half. Aztec won 52 – 46. Marlins Platinum took on Bombay Premiers. Marlins won convincingly 59 – 43. Division 2 Results: Unbeaten teams Manurewa Gold played Aztec 2 in another dress rehearsal for the Finals weekend next week. Manurewa changed gear in the last quarter to win comfortably in the end 61 - 50. Mellons Bay took on Hunua Platinum this week. Mellons started strongly and maintained their fast pace through the first 3 quarters of the game. Hunua gave it their all in the last quarter and came back strong after Mellons Bay made some changes. Mellons Bay Manager Karen Booth citing Mellons Bay’s Mongelique Bohm (GA) & Sam Reynolds (C), and Hunua’s (GK) and (GA), as this weeks star performers. Mellons Bay won 55 – 46. Conifer Grove Platinum faced Revelation Titans in a closely contested match. Conifer Grove winning by a narrow margin 46 – 44. RPL Finals Weekend – Friday, 23rd and Saturday, 24th August: The RPL concludes with the Finals weekend this week. 1st and 2nd placed teams in both Divisions will play off on Friday 23rd August.
