PART 3 of 7... Subject: Stroll Down Memry Lane... Now anyone who missed those days cant really claim theyve seen and tasted the best. Every generation has its own set of Aces. Do you recall when: You tasted Fres Gusto, Cosmos Sarsaparilla, RC Cola, Yes Cola, Teem, Darigold Evap, Liberty Condensada, Choco Vim, Sunkist Orange (in tetra packs), Magnolia Chocolait, Klim (the word milk spelled backwards), Pancho Pantera (endorsed by the late Pancho Magalona), Big 20 Hamburgers, Foot-long hotdog, Tweet & Jiggs Candies by Mr. Krieger, Sugus Candies, Choco Nut, Tootsie Roll, Blenda Margarine, Sergs Chocolate, kerosene-flavored popcorn and kropeck along Dewey Blvd and Luneta Park, dirty ice cream, Magnolia Ice Cream Sandwich, Selecta ice cream and their fresh carabaos milk, Magnolia popsicles in orange, chocolate and langka flavors, Sison Ice Drops in monggo, and buko flavors, Milky Ways buko sherbet, Acme Supermarkets sundaes and Coney Islands 32 flavors? You went to: Syvels, Assandas, Arcegas at the Maranaw Arcade, Funhouse at Bricktown, Aguinaldo’s, Erehwon Bookstore, Alemars Bookstore, Bookmark, Botica Boie, Makati Supermarket, Rizal Theater (with its spacious lobby) with DBankers Barbershop and Leilas Coffee Shop, Tropical Hut (and its hamburger), Acme Supermarket, Cherry Foodarama, The Regent of Manila, Hotel Mabuhay, Manila Hilton, Christmas carnival (where Dusit Hotel now stands), Christmas fanfare at Ysmael Steel grounds at E. Rodriguez Ave., QC where you can ride a spaceship to the moon and their big Robot made of metal, Villa Pansol and Lido Beach? Rizal Theater what? Who would be crazy to build a cinema in the middle of nowhere? It turned out to be the best theater in Metro Manila (at the same site now occupied by Shangri-La Hotel) and later went the Automat and Sulo Restaurants nearby.
