PASTORAL VISITATIONS: This 2nd Sunday of Lent in the Archbishop of Manila & to the SHMI Fathers with the Adoration Convent of Divine Mercy in Tagaytay City thru the SVD Fathers & Pink Sisters (Dedicated to POPE FRANCIS today and for the coming Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper on April 17, 2014) March 16, 2014 TO : MOST REV. EDGARDO PAGCALIUAGAN Parish priest Immaculate Conception Parish Balayan, Batangas, Philippines Dear brother bishops and priests of the Archdiocese of LIpa, How is my pastoral visitation in humility by the grace of God yesterday 15th day of March 2014 for today’s 2nd Sunday of Lent as far as our Catholic Bishops of the Philippines (CBCP) are concerned in this 40 days preparations to celebrate the PASCHAL MYSTERY of our LORD JESUS OF NAZARETH and his victory from death and sin through his Resurrection? This pastoral care that is exclusively as far as the Ordained Ministries are concerned is actually important on this 40 days where the highlight of the celebrations in our Liturgical Calendar is centered most especially in the HOLY WEEK including the TRIDUUM. But how is the celebration important as pastoral care to our beloved bishops and priests? This is the reason why after the greetings and blessings for ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY of our beloved POPE FRANCIS in his one year as POPE-ELECTED last March 14, 2013 not only as the Head or the Supreme Pontiff of the Universal Catholic Church but most important of being VICAR OF CHRIST. This pastoral visitation is important why I did to visit yesterday March 15, 2014 both the Chancery Office of our Archbishop Palace of Manila in Intramuros, Manila and to the SHMI Fathers of the Sons of Holy Mary Immaculate Congregation to their seminary at Multinational Village, Paranaque City, Manila, Philippines. For the pastoral visitation is no other reasons or purposes but only to bring the GOOD NEWS as a review in order that the full and living Gospel might always be preserved in the Church, the apostles left bishops as their successors of having the Fullness of the Sacrament of Holy Orders and being member of the College or Body of Bishops as the chosen witnessed of our LORD JESUS RESURRECTION inside the EUCHARIST at Poiano Verona, Italy year 1991-1992 as far as the BALAYAN SEMINARIANS ASSOCIATION is concerned as former PRESIDENT in our Parish of Immaculate Conception. Why I had this pastoral visitation that was done going to the Chancery Office of the Archbishop Palace of Manila? This is to make sure that the Chancery Office and even the Chair/Sit of Peter in the Cathedral of Manila does not actually being influenced to do such things as far as involvement of the Church Leaders and our priests and event the religious and consecrated life are concerned why we have the EDSA PEOPLE POWER OF 1986 and the EDSA PEOPLE POWER of 2001. This is to be clear intrinsically that the Sacramental nature of ecclesial ministry is its character as “SERVICE, “ which entirely dependent on JESUS of Nazareth who is Resurrected and who gives mission and authority. Ministers are truly slaves of JESUS, on the image of him who freely took “the form of a slave” for us. (CCC # 876) How is my pastoral visitation to the Sons of Holy Mary Immaculate Congregation to my brothers and priests as far as the SHMI Fathers is concerned? This is why I would like to extend also my gratitude to the SHMI Fathers especially to our late Rev. Fr. Augusto De Angelis, SHMI, my friend and to our beloved who is now rector and local superior Rev. Fr. Paolo Pirlo, SHMI as faras my pastoral visitation yesterday March 15, 2014 is also concerned. There is no other purpose and intentions why I visited my brothers and priests of the SHMI fathers of the Congregation but only to bring the GOOD NEWS at the same time to let them realized that being the chosen witnessed of our LORD JESUS RESURRECTION inside the EUCHARIST that was happened in our Novice House in Poiano, Verona, Italy as my OBEDIENCE to the WILL OF GOD why I immediately go home is actually clear of concrete manifestation that the Sacrament of Holy Orders is the sacrament of the apostolic ministry. Being the bishop and priest of the SHMI fathers of the congregation as we are all called to be A HUMBLE SERVANTS of the RISEN LORD on this year2014 let us not to forget why it is the bishops as the successors of the Apostles to hand on the “gift of the Spirit”, the Apostolic Line as far as I am concerned (CCC # 1576) Having this exclusive openness and of being an identity of the College or Body of Bishops by the grace of Risen Lord as far as being the chosen witnessed inside the Eucharist with the fullness of the Sacrament of Holy Orders this is why in respect to our Former Superior General of the Congregation of the Sons of Holy Mary Immaculate it is clear why I have to thank him since I did not come or to enter anymore in the seminary as I arrived coming in Rome, Italy last May 24, 1992 in the Philippines brought the GOOD NEWS of the RESURRECTION of our LORD JESUS OF NAZARETH. It means this is also why all who are chosen witnessed of our RISEN LORD like of the Apostles became the foundation stones of the Church by the grace of God. With this, again thank you very much to our beloved Archbishops of Manila especially to our late beloved EMINENCE JAIME CARDINAL SIN, D.D., and to our RET. EMERITUS ARCHISBOP EMINENCE GAUDENCIO CARDINAL ROSALES, D.D., as far as our presently Archbishop of Manila is concerned through our EMINENCE LUIS ANTONIO “CHITO” CARDINAL TAGLE, D.D., is concerned. So although we talked of Rev. Fr. Paolo Pirlo, SHMI Local Superior/rector yesterday to my pastoral visitation we cannot actually avoided coming from him that is exclusively for the Ordained Ministries scandals involving our bishops and priests both the diocesan or religious priests. But let us not forget that it is made present through the ministerial priesthood the one priesthood of Christ without diminishing the uniqueness of Christ’s priesthood: “only Jesus is the true priest, the others being only his ministers in our humility to the redemptive sacrifice of JESUS that is unique, accomplished once for all. (CCC # 1545) This is why my pastoral visitation yesterday 15th day of March 2014 to this pastoral care is actually to be offered today as the main celebrant to celebrate the HOLY EUCHARIST/MASS on this Second Sunday of Lent as I brought the Good News to my pastoral visitation of which it is to offer again on this coming EVENING MASS OF THE LORD’S SUPPER this coming 17th day of April 2014 as far as our beloved POPE FRANCIS is concerned as our Head and Supreme Pontiff of our Universal Catholic Church.
