PC Geraldine Sprigg from Birmingham West and Central has today (20/09) released CCTV footage of a woman being attacked by another woman after she had been asked to move the car she was in, which was blocking her in on a road in Handsworth Wood. The assault took place at around 1PM on Wednesday 30th July outside the Shakil Food store on Wellington Road. The woman, aged 44, was driving her Ford C-Max when she was blocked in the road by another car, a grey VW Tournan, which had a woman in the passenger seat, whilst the male driver had gone to the nearby shops. The woman asked her how long they were going to be as she was unable to pass by, and was given abuse by the woman passenger of the VW Touran. The woman then went another route and parked nearby to go to the shops. As she walked towards the shops, the passenger of the Touran got out, grabbed her by the hair, threw her over a table outside the grocery store, before pulling her to her feet by the hair again and throwing her on the floor. The woman, described as being white, in her early 20s, with long brown hair tied back in a pony-tail, and wearing a black vest top and grey tracksuit bottoms, then went to nearby shop and returned to see the woman noting down the vehicle registration number. Shen then assaulted her again, before returning back into her car with the male driver and driving away. The woman, who was attacked, suffered a lump to her head and bruising following the assault. PC Sprigg, said: “This was an unprovoked and violent attack on a woman who had asked the driver to move her car which was blocking the road. The assault took place in the middle of the day and we are asking for anyone who say the incident or who recognises the woman driver to contact us. The woman assaulted suffered pain and discomfort following the attack and may have lost consciousness for a short time.” Please call WMP on 101 if you have ANY information.
