PDP crisis: Tukur, Oyinlola in war of words Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr. Bamanga Tukur, and the Secretary ofNew PDP, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola on Wednesday engaged each other in war of words over the problems bedeviling the party. Tukur, who fired the first salvo, said the former governor of Osun State was not capable of running the party. The former governor of the defunct Gongola State, who spoke in a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Mr. Oliver Okpala, said the antecedents of Oyinlola showed that he was a dictator, whose style of administration, he said, was at variance with the current political dispensation. “It is a fact that Oyinlola was one of those military bunch who held down our democracy for a long time. As a former military man, Oyinlola is an unrepentant dictator of the first-order,” Tukur said in the statement signed by Okpala. Okpala said that under normal circumstance, Oyinlola was not capable of speaking on the ideals of democracy and the rule of law. This, he said, was because by training and orientation, Oyinlola was “a slave to order and command of the military.” He said, “He (Oyinlola) lacks any credible credentials to sermonise on democracy and due process including rule of law. “Oyinlola’s grouse against Tukur and the party is familiar and notorious, since he was removed as the National Secretary of the PDP on the account of the flaws inherent in his election, he has directed his aggression at Tukur, yet Tukur has no hand in his political travails.” In a swift reaction, Oyinlola said while he was constrained from joining issues with Tukur due to old age, he nevertheless said it was apparent that the PDP chairman had become senile. Oyinlola said this in a telephone interview with our correspondent in Abuja on Wednesday. He said, “While we don’t want to join issues with Baba Tukur out of respect for old age, one can excuse him on his account of senility. Tukur has become senile.” He said that both Tukur and the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh had commended him and attested to his managerial capabilities before. He said Tukur’s recant attested to his “inconsistency and poor leadership qualities.” He said his tenure as the national secretary of PDP marked remarkable changes in the administration of the party. Oyinlola challenged Tukur to do an opinion survey at the headquarters of “his PDP”, saying that his “findings would make him abdicate his position without further delay base on the fact that he lacks the support of even members of staff, who regard his authoritative style as responsible for the crisis in the PDP. “That I’m a stickler for due process is a plus for me and Tukur should find out if I ever circumvented rules and regulations or act in an improper manner that he (Tukur) always do in company with his co-travelers. “Everybody knows that Tukur’s tenure so far has been the worst in the 14 years history of the party and nobody should be surprised that Tukur who came in with preconceived personal agenda of caging and antagonising state governors and other interest groups in the PDP, has been a monumental failure and he is the root of all the crises within the PDP today.” He called on the leadership of Tukur’s PDP to subject his and Tukur’s tenure to a management audit to be able to determine who serially violated the PDP constitution through reckless administrative actions and who attempted to sanitize the whole administrative procedure at the national headquarters. - See more at: 247nigerianewsupdate/pdp-crisis-tukur-oyinlola-in-war-of-words/#sthash.hfV0nbq0.dpuf
