Reading all these post about all these kids struggling is so sad! Ive been upset, beating myself up wondering what Ive done wrong with my child for him not to be able to learn like all the other kids or his brother and sister? What could I have done different, did I baby him too much, did I not send him to headstart early enough? My heart breaks for him! I have struggled too with should we put him on medicine, should we change his classes, should we pull him out to home school or private school! Ive talked to several that are homeschooling and private school theyre kids are doing great but then Ive talked to some that have sent theirs back to Jr High or High School and they test ahead of their grade but fall behind because they dont know the curriculum! I understand that this Common Core is suppose to help our failing schools in this state, getting them ready for college and making them think outside the box but what are they gonna need it for if theyre quitting school because theyre not getting it and feel like failures? Whats our schools gonna do when they loose all that money for all these kids that are being pulled out to home school or private school or dropping out? Especially our elementary school, that seems to be the most loosing kids because of this! And I know a lot of teachers that like it and a lot that dont but is worth loosing students over? Its just too much for most of these little minds to handle! Its not just the elementary students struggling either. The older ones are too! They dont know this new way because thats not how they were taught to do things when they were smaller! I hate to see these teachers and staff loosing these kids! I hated that my son had to leave his teachers that he started with because I really liked them. Like me, they were concerned for him and you dont get that everyday! Now hes in the one room that doesnt change with a new teacher and hopefully together we can get him where he needs to be but if not, well Im not sure yet! I dont want to pull him out at the fear of when I put him back in he would fall behind again, if we still have common core. Instead of blaming the teachers and staff we need to let our state and school officials know we dont want this Common Core in our schools! Whats wrong with the way we were taught? Nothing! How did we get the teachers, doctors, nurses, lawyers and all the other educated people we have in our society today? The OLD WAY!!!!!! I hope Mississippi really sees whats going on and opts out of this mess! And Im really over caring if I hurt anyones feelings with my feelings so if you dont agree just keep it to yourself.
