PDP puts forth five conditions to form Kashmir govt with BJP Srinagar, December 26: The Peoples Democratic Party has put forward five conditions for the right wing Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party to form the next government in Kashmir. The PDPs national spokesperson, Dr Sameer Koul Friday said that deliberations on government formation are going on with the BJP, which has emerged as the second largest party with 25 seats. Koul admitted PDPs senior leader, Muzaffar Hussain Beigh, is in touch with BJP leaders and he has put forth five conditions before them. When asked what are the conditions that has been put forth by his party before the BJP, Koul said: the conditions include, the respect for the Self-Rule proposal (softening of borders), revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from peaceful areas, strengthening of Article 370, full tenure for Mufti Muhammad Sayeed as chief minister and comprehensive package and relief for flood hit people of Kashmir including traders. “These conditions we have put forth at initial stage and if the deal materializes, more conditions will follow,” Koul said, adding: it is dream of PDP to mitigate the sufferings of people and to provide them good governance. “People will feel a real change if PDP forms the government. We will mean business and will relieve the people from sufferings. There will be no discrimination and even commoners will feel a change on the ground,” he said. “Politically, it will be not a suicide for PDP to form government with the support of BJP as we will govern the state on our own terms. We have our own ‘pro-people’ agenda and the party will not deviate from that agenda,” Koul said, adding that it is impossible for PDP to form government with National Conference. The NC has said it was ready to support the PDP if the former chief minister Syeed sought support. Koul said people have voted out NC. “How can we betray our people and form government with National Conference whose leaders are always interested in filling their coffers rather than work in the interest of common people,” he said.
