PENSKE RACING MAKES STATEMENT REGARDING NASCAR NATIONWIDE SERIES PENALTY Tuesday evening Penske Racing released a statement regarding their recent NASCAR Nationwide Series penalty, including the cause of the violation. The #22 of Penske Racing, which won Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race while being driven by Joey Logano, failed post-race inspection by being too low in the front end. On Tuesday NASCAR handed down sanctions to Penske Racing which included a $10,000 fine on crew chief Jeremy Bullins and the docking of 6 championship car owner points for the #22. Following NASCAR’s announcement on the penalties, Penske Racing made a statement regarding the situation. “The Penske Racing No. 22 Ford Mustang had a spring retaining screw back out during Saturday’s Nationwide Series race, which resulted in the car’s front end being too low by 1/16 of an inch when presented for post-race inspection,” Penske Racing said in their statement. “The problem is being addressed internally to prevent it from happening again and the team is not planning to appeal the penalty.”
