MANAGER: LEGAL ADVICE (TASK 16) R632 203.00 Ref 10062013MLA Pretoria Closing Date: 6/30/2013 12:00 AM Page Content Purpose of the Job: Reporting to Senior Manager: Legal, the successful candidate will be responsible to provide management and technical support to the Senior Manager: Legal in line with the strategic objectives of the organisation as determined by the Board of the RAF; to manage, monitor and report on legal advice provided to the Board, Executive Management and business units; to publish internal legal advice newsletters; to prepare legal articles for publication in external media; and to collaborate with the Training Department on specific training requirements and the development of training material. Key Performance Areas · Manage all financial matters of the Legal Advice section in accordance with relevant legislation and policies. · Manage the employees in the Legal Advice section in accordance with relevant legislation and RAF Human Capital policies. · Ensure that the Legal Advice section activities are aligned to the approved RAF strategy and implementing the controls required to drive and manage performance. · Providing leadership to direct reports in the pursuit of performance objectives. · Develop and maintain good working relations with all internal and external stakeholders. · Manage, monitor and report on legal advice provided by the Legal Advice section. · Instruct attorney to brief counsel on legal opinion. · Where appropriate consult with attorney and counsel. · Conduct legal research. · Draft and communicate legal opinions / advice. · Collaborate with the Training Department on specific training requirements and the development of training material; · Publish Legal Advice Newsletters; · Publish periodically legal articles in external media; and · Maintain and update legal advice registers. Qualifications and Experience · B. Proc or LLB · Thorough knowledge of the RAF Act, PFMA and all related legislation that applies to the organisation. · Minimum 3 years experience dealing with RAF claims · Minimum 2 years experience managing teams · Code 8 driver’s license · Willingness to travel Personal Attributes · Creative problem solving and strong analytical skills · Good organisational and planning skills · Customer service orientated. · Report writing skills. Remuneration § A total cost to company of minimum remuneration package applicable to this position is R632 203.00 per annum; and will be negotiable commensurate with experience.
