PETER KINGARAS MANIFESTO YOUTHS a) Career • Lobby for a university campus in Othaya to cater for local students • An educated community with most people attaining tertiary education; creating education opportunities for school leavers as well as programs to enhance performance and promote social responsibility. This includes: i. A public library and student information resource center. ii. Exam preparation materials to boost schools’ performance iii. Arrange for organized Mentorship programs for students iv. Counseling for high school students especially on drug abuse • Organize scholarships and bursaries for bright and needy students through strategic partners • Enhance educational tours for students & youth as well as exchange programs for exposure • Equip youth polytechnics to include entrepreneurial skills among other technical skills in line with vision 2030 • Provide incentives and training to teachers and school management to enhance effective service delivery to enhance performance standards of students and promote school development b) Job creation • Put in place a youth business resource center in the constituency which will: i. Work with registered youth groups for training, start-up and development of small scale businesses and follow up through motivation/mentorship programs ii. Have a youth affairs management committee to facilitate registered youth groups access more resources, funding and training iii. Run a business club to enhance networking for business purposes iv. Facilitate access to market for products and services developed by small scale enterprises run by the youth Promoting youth access to government procurement (YAGPO PROGRAM) in conjuction with the ministry of finance v. Promote Use of talents and art for career development and economic benefit vi. Enhance access to youth fund and promote entrepreneurship among youth c) Talent development • Have a talent center in Othaya for training and nurturing of talents: i. Music studio in Othaya town ii. Talent events twice a year to identify and promote dancers, musicians, actors/actresses, comedians iii. Start and promote a writers’ club (for journalists and authors)to enhance their skills and promote information and knowledge attainment in the constituency iv. Put in place competitions and events such as music, drama, outdoor sports, essay-writing among other talent-based competitions to adresss socio-economic and political issues and create awareness, growth and development • Have in place a swimming pool for sports oriented persons and a Gym which will double up as a physiotherapy center in othaya town
