PHILIPPINE EMBASSIES, IOM TO BRING HOME 59 FILIPINOS FROM SYRIA 02 July 2013 – The Philippine Embassies in Damascus and Beirut in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is set to repatriate another group of Filipinos who were caught in the violence in Syria. A total of 59 individuals who were declared physically fit to travel were brought to the Syrian-Lebanese border by the personnel of the Embassy in Damascus and IOM-Syria yesterday, July 01. The group, which is now under the care of the Embassy in Beirut and IOM-Lebanon, will take a flight for Manila via Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The repatriates’ airfare was shouldered by IOM. They will arrive at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal I at 11:10 in the evening today, July 02 via Etihad Airways flight EY 428. Upon the group’s arrival, the total number of repatriates will reach 4,398. The DFA continues to urge all Filipinos who are still in Syria to seek immediate repatriation as the violence in the country continue to worsen.
