PHILS PSYCHEDELIC ARCHIVE (10) It seemed to me, by 1967, that there was so much diverse and fascinating music being made, that I couldnt imagine ever managing to listen to half of it. Lets face it, there was no internet or even personal computers to search out those elusive gems you were after - the cutting edge of technology was vinyl which was bought in shops, and radio, the old friend in the corner of the room. This is where the memory comes in, and sometimes Id vaguely remember half a song by a band I didnt catch the name of, for several years before discovering the identity, although I did write down a very extensive list headed to be collected. Some of those listed took many years to track down. I only ever heard one song by Tomorrow at the time, although that wasnt uncommon, as that was the case with many acts especially the more obscure. I didnt actually buy a copy of My White Bicycle until years later, but was just as pleased as if it was the day of release. Subsequently, Ive bought a cd of them and been pleasantly surprised how good they were, although Im not sure why! Much of the music I like doesnt appear in best selling lists. This track though is pure psychedelia - lyrics inspired by something fairly trivial but interesting, and loads of special effects. It deserves its place alongside better known records. youtube/watch?v=m6KZSAAUhMs
