PLATEAU STATE STUDENTS WAEC RESULTS : The Death of Education for Road Construction In the history of our dear beloved fatherland Plateau, the educational development scale has never been this worst; we are confronted with tribalism, nepotism and dictatorship as a people on the soil we proudly proclaim as our heritage. I have refused to dance to the tunes of hypocrisy like most of my kinsmen who in spite of their level of education define road construction “ as the only meaning development that has ever happened on the Plateau ” . A good sociologist will confirm this definition as a manifestation of poverty of ideas. Recently the University of Jos here on the Plateau was alleviated in the ranking of Federal Universities in the country and the entire Plateau state welcomed it as a good news, indeed but is the University of Jos under the Plateau state government? NO. For the records, the total number of Plateau sons and daughters in the University of Jos is no where near half of the total number of distinguished individuals from other states, this fact can be cross checked, except cleaners and messengers’ positions . . . yes we dominate. With few months to the death of this Rulership style of government is there any hope for the education sector on the Plateau? l wonder why teachers in some schools are yet to be paid their hard earned stipend . We were told that there was a discovery of over one thousand teachers that were not qualified to be in class room in Plateau state, why were the names not published and which particular local government top the list ? Did l hear someone say “ Jos South ? ” WAEC has released the statistics of last examinations , again Plateau state is comfortably at her usual position, some hypocrites have posted lots of articles and comments concerning this poor performance, yet the same set of individuals (especially youths ) are always quick to say there is nothing wrong with this government, l beg to ask ,will road construction develop the Plateau youth ? WAEC and NECO are the foundation and bridge for all advancement in Education in Nigeria, l stand to be corrected. The youths on the Plateau must demand explanations to this recurrent embarrassment which has become a plague to us all, those in charge must have a rethink and put education on the Plateau back to its enviable position. Finally, most of those who cry over the poor state of education on the Plateau and still maintain that road construction is the best thing that has ever happened to this state are indeed products of poor education irrespective of the fact that they went to school.
