The Colinton Gunners (U14 boys) season got off to a winning start against St Serf’s. First up was a doubles match with Harry Young and Andrew Hill. This was a good opening tie for both who looked a bit rusty in early rallies however with Andrew showing his ubiquitous racket skills at the net and with Harry putting in some good servers they quickly won the first doubles match of the day. Jack Nicholls and and Jamie Holmes meanwhile were battling it out with their opponents. Although younger the opposition certainly had well drilled ground shots and the ability to challenge at key points in the match. Two titanic struggles saw Jack come thru with a win with Jamie losing an extremely tight tie break in the 3rd set. The last round pitted two Harry’s together – both having played together at various points over the years. Colinton’s Harry had not recorded a victory over St Serf’s Harry however he battled thru in three sets showing a resolute attitude against a seasoned match player. Andrew Hill showed his extra time playing squash and Badminton had not been wasted with some deft touches in quickly polishing off his opponent. Jack and Jamie played well in the remaining match developing a good understanding and maturity to overcome their tricky opponents . Thanks to all for the effort in putting the tea together which was finished off by some extremely hungry players with not a drop to spare. Next up is :-Lomond Park at Trinity: 11/05/2014 Lomond Park v Colinton B14 the team is:- Calum Y, Harry Y, Alistair Brown , Jamie Holmes , and Jack Nicholls If you are not free let me know as soon as possible as I also have Luca free on this date to play. Note I am looking to organise some match practice at 4 on Sunday– there is a possibility the new courts will be finished then so we could be some of the first to use them. Let me know if you can come along. Regards Stuart
