PLEASE READ IN FULL! Well heres the latest on the lantern idea. I initially thought that anyone who wanted to light in memory of her could get one from me and do them on our own, take pictures and post here. Ive run into a couple of issues regarding these. First, I realized that if a whole group of people did them at my house, that it could potentially end up being hazardous of a fire with my street being lined with trees, and there is not a whole lot of room for a lot of people. So I thought what if we get together in a public parking lot and release. I certainly would not want to get into trouble for lighting them, so I called the fire chief and he said that the lanterns do cause fires, and they are potentially dangerous. They had a fire this summer where one caught roof shingles on fire and caused about 1/2 million dollars in damage. I do not want to be responsible for something like that. He then gave me the idea of lighting floating candles on a pond at night. So I called Wyuka, where Bris ashes are, and asked the director if that was a possibility. She told me that you cannot release anything into the pond that is not biodegradable because of the wildlife. She also said that since Bri has been there, the wildlife has doubled! So we certainly would not want to disrupt that. She did however say if we wanted to do a candlelight memorial around the pond at dusk or dawn, that that would be fine, but we need to make sure to take any lit items with us upon leaving, for fear of, again, disrupting the wildlife. We can feed the ducks, but only cut up vegetables and they love canned corn. But NO bread items! They can die from it. So I personally dont think I can arrange a ceremony for her in a matter of 3 days for a large group of people. I also dont feel comfortable giving out the lanterns when I know they could potentially start something that initially took Brianna away from us. But I certainly want her birthday to be special and remembered by all of us!
