PLEASE READ: This post on my Facebook page is an exception (for an exceptional event) to my guidelines. (For information about Arkansas jazz artists, events, and venues, please Like and refer to the Facebook page I maintain for the Arkansas Jazz Heritage Foundation. For details about jazz venues and upcoming all-live, all-jazz events open to the public in Arkansas, click on Venues and Calendar top tabs at jazznearyou.) As Secretary for the Arkansas Jazz Heritage Foundation/Arkansas Jazz Hall of Fame and Arkansas Editor for All About Jazz/Jazz Near You, I was pleased to help publicize (along with event organizers Mark Wilson and Lucian Hyatt) and emcee (along with THVs Astrid Solorzano) the inaugural event (on 20 January 2015) in a new jazz series (Jazz Spot - Tuesdays at The Studio Theatre) in Little Rock. The evening (ticketed via eventbrite) began at 5:30 p.m. with a happy hour in The Lobby Bar and featured a jazz concert by the Guido Ritchie Project (left to right: Stuart Coles - upright bass, Guido Ritchie - trumpet/flugelhorn, Bryan Withers - drums, Steve Hudelson - guitar, Brandon Dorris - sax). A percentage of the proceeds benefitted the Arkansas Coalition Against Domestic Violence. (A local map, description, and photos for The Studio Theatre are provided via a link in the alphabetical list under Venues at jazznearyou. When all details for the February Jazz Spot Tuesday event have been confirmed, I will provide them within an entry in the chronological list under Calendar at jazznearyou.)
