PLEASE SHARE BUTTERSCOTCHS COMEBACK STORY! This poor boy was found as a stray and transferred to Animal Alliance of New Jersey by a high volume NJ shelter so that he could receive the best in lifesaving care to recover from starvation/emaciation. We hospitalized him immediately at Crown Veterinary Specialists and Emergency where he is recovering slowly from severe starvation. As he was so hungry while roaming the streets, Butterscotch ingested anything he could eat and swallow to try and fill his empty belly. Once his body temperature and electrolytes were stabilized (took several days), he had surgery to remove multiple foreign items from his intestines. Lucky for Butterscotch that Dr. Wendy Ross, a board certified veterinary surgeon and owner of Crown, is a brilliantly talented surgeon and got Butterscotch in and out of a tricky surgery safely and quickly. Shes the best! Butterscotch is now on the road to recovery. This emergency rescue will cost us many thousands of dollars. If you would like to donate to help defray the cost of Butterscotchs care, please go to animalalliancenj.org/donate.shtml We will continue to tell this story, and will post new photos soon. These were taken on Wednesday, 2 days ago, after Butterscotch had already been in the hospital 6 days. Needless to say, this is one of the worst emaciation cases weve ever seen.
