POLICE ATTACKING PHYSICIANS!! Brief translation of an interview with a volunteer physician: Nazim Hikmet Merkezi (Ankara) has been turned into a first-aid station. We were there as volunteers to help the injured. Let me make one thing clear; we are not affiliated with any organization, we are not partisans of any sort. The riot police surrounded the building, even though they knew we were there to offer emergency medical care to the injured. They broke down the doors and windows, shot us over and over again with gas bombs. We could not breathe. When we tried to exit the building to take a breath, they beat us with batons one by one as we came out. I was hit on the head. Even in war, medical staff and hospitals are to be spared. The Turkish POLICE crossed this line. I was hit with a truncheon but I am not afraid. Tonight I will go back to help the injured, even if that means I will be beaten by a police again
