POLICE in Delta State and a vigilance group, Wednesday night, shot dead three suspected bandits, members of three separate armed robbery gangs in Warri and Isiokolo areas of the state. One of the suspects was shot dead by the police in an encounter in Isiokolo, Ethiope East Local Government Area after his gang snatched a Pathfinder Jeep and killed the owner on Jakpa Road, Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, earlier in the day. The second bandit was killed by the police while fleeing from a business centre, owned by Ejiro Eyefia on the Okere-Ugborikoko Road, Warri, where his gang was operating at 8.55 pm. The third was shot dead by a vigilance group at Igbudu Market, Warri. Three members of the first gang were arrested at the end of a fierce gun battle with the police in Isiokolo. Police Area Commander in Warri, Mr Hussaini Rabiu, who confirmed the killings, said police sent information to all Divisional Police Officers in the area as soon as the jeep with registration number, AW 774 WWR was snatched.
