POSE OF THE DAY - POSTURE 10 Standing Separate Leg Head to Knee Pose (Dandayamana-Bibhaktapada-Janushirasana) Purpose and Benefits: - Trims abdomen, waistline, hips, buttocks and thighs - Massages and compresses the thyroid gland, which helps regulate metabolism and immune system Performing the Pose: - Start with your feet together - Bring your arms overhead, palms together, thumbs crossed, elbows locked - Step sideways, at least 3 feet to the right - Turn your right foot out to the right - Turn your hips to face the right - Left foot is at a 45-degree angle - Keep both legs straight and reach up toward the ceiling - Curl your body up and out, over and down, bringing the forehead to the right knee - Suck in your stomach and look at your belly button - Your clasped hands should rest gently on the floor in front of your foot - Square your hips so they become parallel to the floor - If you cant reach your head to your knee with the leg straight, bend your right knee so it touches your forehead - Straighten up in reverse of how you went into the pose - Turn back to center and maintain your wide leg stance - Pivot on your heels, turn your left foot out and repeat the posture on the other side Demonstration: https://youtube/watch?v=VRqO91bdVP4
