POSSIBLE SCAM ALERT: I had a call today from DRS Alarms (Direct Response Systems). I was told that people in my road were being offered very substantially reduced monitored alarm systems, with reduced installation charge too. The lady was so nice, and credible, and English, that I agreed to a visit from her salesperson. I then checked this company out and found they have been on Rogue Traders and Watchdog (albeit a few years ago), for offering supposedly limited offers like this, without the house-owners being told of on-going monitoring charges. When the company called back to confirm the appointment, I asked if there were ongoing charges and the woman was very evasive. I have cancelled the appointment, and feel uncomfortable that this company have so many details about me, including my address and age. It might be worth warning elderly or vulnerable friends and relatives that this is happening in our area.
