POSTBAG UNUSED LAND IN TOWNS Editor, The many shopping malls that have been and are still being constructed countrywide have added to the beauty of cities where they are being built. It is a known fact that proper and well-designed buildings have proved to add to any town’s beauty and the general citizenry will, therefore, appreciate seeing mall developers on site to add beauty to the town than what is happening to the impending mall construction between the local court and the roundabout opposite Chingola Central Police. Can the owner of the land move in and develop it or give it back to the council to reallocate it to a serious developer. Otherwise, it is becoming an eyesore. This also goes to owners of some pieces of land in townships which have become dumps, yet these pieces of land are owned. We have a lot of such in Chikola. One wonders where the owners are to leave their plots unkempt in the townships, which now serve as garbage deposit centres. I, therefore, appeal to the municipality to start considering levying such owners for neglecting their land that finally become dumpsites, making our townships dirty. And you will be shocked to learn who the owners of such neglected plots are. Let us help the councils keep our townships clean where we can. Concerned
