PRESIDENT JONATHAN GOODLUCK has reportedly praised Maj.-Gen Muhammadu Buhari for speaking out against the evil of terrorism. He then went on to assure Buhari (not Nigerians o) that the Federal government is committed to stamping out the evil of terrorism from our land. Good one if you look at the fact that people dont praise their opponents in these political climes. However, I hasten to say that saccharine speeches like these from the two leaders would not bring succour on their own to the traumatised populace. The government must unfold a clear, concise and time-bound plan for snuffing the life out of Boko Haram activities. We must invest in new intelligence and new anti-terrorism infrastructure. Why we cant call on the Americans baffles me. For since September 11, 2001, Al Qaeda has not successfully launched any attack in the US. Thats what we should aim at. I do not kid myself that it cant happen in the South, SouthWest or even in Ibadan in particular where God lives at the moment. (Lols). Yesterday there was a hoax about Boko Haram along the Lagos expressway. Many people were worried. Who knows maybe it was the terrorists themselves that flew a kite? God have mercy!
