PRESS RELEASE BI APPLICATIONS, LETTER REQUESTS NEED NOT BE NOTARIZED The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has adopted yet another policy to make transactions easier and less costly for foreigners by removing the requirement for notarization of some immigration-related documents. Immigration Commissioner Siegfred B. Mison ordered that all applications and/or letter requests being filed at any BI office shall no longer require notarization. Only required affidavits and sworn statements shall require notarization. Mison issued the order to cut bureaucratic red-tape further and ease the process of doing business without compromising the integrity of transactions with BI. “We are committed to the exigency of public service and doing away with unnecessary financial burden to our foreign friends,” Mison said. The BI chief clarified that only affidavit and/or sworn statements specifically required for a particular transaction shall be notarized. The Public Information and Assistance Unit (PIAU), the Central Receiving Unit (CRU) and BI National Operations Center (BINOC) were tasked to immediately disseminate the Commissioner’s order. -KEGC
