PRESS RELEASE Intelligent verification system; Police impound 8 vehicles with bogus number plates ISLAMABAD, October 2: Cops of Islamabad police deployed on pickets and performing patrolling duties are continuously conducting checking of vehicles, suspects through mobile verification system and a total of eight vehicles were impounded during last two days. According to details, Islamabad Police have created a customized database with three components that include registration data of vehicles, data of stolen vehicles and crime record of proclaimed offenders, court absconders, military deserters, challaned and convicted persons. In order to check record of any vehicle or suspect, this data can be accessed by picket in-charges and patrol officers through intelligent mobile verification system. During the last two days, eight vehicles were impounded in various police stations for being driven with fake registration or number plates or having tampered chassis number. The vehicles impounded by the police include IDE-7448 (Vitz) being driven by Muhammad Usman s/o Bakhtawar Ahmed resident of Charsadda with fake number plate, AA-315 (Land Cruiser) being driven by Nek Aaman Khan s/o M. Akram Khan resident of Waziristan with fake number plate, DN-088 (Honda) with bogus number plate driven by Atif Tanveer s/o Tanveer Ahmed resident of Rawalpindi, RT-633 driven by Zeeshan Ahmed s/o Basheer Ahmed resident of Islamabad with bogus number plate, RIU-4278 driven by Amjad having unclear chassis number. Similarly, car number IDK-544 (Khyber) being driven by Mazhar Hussain Shah, MT-537 (Corolla Car) being drive by Zafar Iqbal, ICT, WT-050 (Corolla Atlas) being driven by Khanzada and ZF-689 (Corolla) being driven by Faheem Khan were also impounded for having bogus number plates. IGP Islamabad Sikandar Hayat has said that use of this new technology is underway to ensure effectively policing and give better output. He said that acquaintance with modern technology for policemen is very essential to effectively combat criminal elements and the best use of `mobile verification system’ is being ensured. SSP Islamabad Muhammad Rizwan has said that all possible steps are being taken to secure the city and ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens He said Islamabad police would be made more responsive through introduction of this strictly supervised tool and hoped for further effective policing in future.
