PRESS RELEASE PRESS RELEASE 28.1.2014 CAST GATHERS FOR DENIZEN BY DAVE DUGGAN The cast is now complete for the staged reading of Denizen, a new verse drama by Dave Duggan, which will take place in the Danske Bank Studio, at the Millennium Forum on Sunday 9th February 2014. Dave Duggan said: “Its good to be in a position to stage a reading of this play. And to have Lloyd Hutchinson read the main part. Hes based in London, but originally from Strabane. He played Richard Burbage, Shakespeares favoured actor, in the film Anonymous and he has worked for the RSC in verse drama, which is good for Denizen. I saw him play a blinder in Sam Shepards Field Day premier at The Playhouse last November and bought him breakfast at Fiorentinis the next day. The fry – and some extracts – sold this gig for him.” Casting, contracts and other production matters are in the hands of Jonathan Burgess and Pearse Moore, combining the expertise of two local production companies, Blue Eagle and Nerve Centre. Dave added: “The play has a snatch of an original song as well as a ballad for the Chorus. Orla Mullan will read – and sing - that part. Orla has performed with The Lyric, Sole Purpose Productions, Welsh National Opera and shes been in Emmerdale. Shes from County Derry. Another Derry woman, Sorcha Shanahan, completes the cast. I worked with Sorcha last year when she played the lead, Red Maisie, in my theatre and film work McLaughlins 100. Its great to be working with her again.” Denizen, written and directed by Dave Duggan, in a staged reading, produced by Blue Eagle Productions and Nerve Centre, with the support of The Culture Company. The Danske Bank Studio, The Millennium Forum, Sunday 9th February 2014, 7 30 pm, £5. Telephone 028 7126 4455 END Dave Duggan is available for interview.
