PRESS RELEASE Yatris Treated in Inhuman Way:VHP Jammu, June 29, 2013-Rude & most inhuman treatment meted out to large number of Yatries while pushing them back without allowing them to go for obeisance of Lord Shiva was taken very seriously by Dr. R.K.Dubey State VHP President when speaking before the media today. Such a large number of Yatries cannot reach at the entry gates of Baltal & Nun-wan without the knowledge of traffic people & administration. Certainly this has been done with the active connivance of local transporters & others. It certainly points towards the lack of SASB & administration while educating the public through mass media and wide publicity. SASB & administration spend lakhs of rupees on the publicity just to attract the tourists but they proved a total failure in educating the Amarnath Yatries. Separate registration of a husband & wife also with single groups is a pointer towards this. It is also unbelievable that twelve thousand Yatries had used their own means of transportation to reach the entry gates. Mal-treatment of Yatries including the females is most condemnable. In addition the exorbitant rates being charged by the locals for cereals & other essential commodities like LPG, Sugar, Kerosene etc. is just to fleece the skin of Yatries & Langarwalas. How can a non-subsidy gas cylinder costing rupees 12 hundred at base camps jumps up to Rs.2800/- at Panjtarni or Sangam. Similarly around 300% to 400% increase in prices is being charged at these places for sugar & kerosene etc. Such actions in the commercial activity are certainly a step towards the discouragement of the yatra. When SASB & the administration is earning lakhs of rupees through the conducting of this yatra, why cannot they sell these essential commodities on subsidised rates? Instead of encouraging the Yatries by doling out some subsidies, both SASB & administration is adamant to loot the Langarwalas & Yatries. In the end, Dr. Dubey advised the SASB/administration to adopt the humanity-touch way while dealing with the Yatries who unknowingly reach there without registration & work-out a method so that on-spot registration to the extent of deficient numbers of Yatries per day is done. The target of 15,000 Yatries per day already fixed by SASB/administration should at least be touched. S/d Dr. Ramakant Dubey President VHP (J&K State)
